The iPhone's already popular status in the smartphone market could see a substantial boost once Apple wraps up negotiations with China's cell service providers. Sandford C. Bernstein & Co analyst Tony Sacconaghi estimated Apple could sell some 2.9 million handsets in the country by the end of 2011.

SmileOnMyMac's TextExpander touch appeared on Apple's App store on Wednesday, extending the company's text snippet expander for the Mac to the iPhone and iPod touch. The app lets users build snippet libraries that contain words and phrases that can be quickly copied or sent to other iPhone apps.

Pac-Man Remix continues the trend of Namco's Dig Dug Remix, Galaga Remix, and similar titles: Take a well-known arcade game recipe, spice it up with modern-day technologies and game development techniques, and serve it piping hot. Unfortunately, Pac-Man Remix is the victim of the same inferior ingredient as the others: a dodgy control scheme.
